“We are building the industry cloud for life sciences,” said Peter Gassner, president and CEO of Veeva during his keynote at the company’s Summit in Philadelphia in 2018. “We want the industry and your company to be more efficient and effective – supporting your journey to improve and extend human life,” Gassner added.

At this years’ event, Gassner’s message evolved to the Application Platform for Life Sciences. His keynote focused on two important themes in the evolution of the Veeva Platform:

  • Veeva AI
  • Industry Standard Applications

These themes were evident in the discussions and energy that permeated the event, with leaders from Veeva and the life sciences industry sharing strategies that have enabled organizations to move digital modernization forward. This year, over 2,400 life science attendees representing over 400 companies convened in Boston for the Summit.

Veeva AI: Embedding Agentic AI into the Platform

Veeva AI is not a standalone product, it is a platform-wide initiative that builds Agentic AI directly into the Vault Platform enabling agents to leverage direct and secure access across Veeva’s data and content and work seamlessly within all Veeva applications. This approach reflects a deliberate departure from generic AI tools toward context-aware, domain-specific intelligence.

According to Gassner, “Agents live in Vaults and perform specific functions. These agents can be called in many ways.” Gassner’s vision is to have approximately 100 agents, 30% standard in the platform, and 70% custom agents created by customers and partners.

He also announced that Veeva agents would comply with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) by 2026, enabling “Agents talking with agents in other Vaults, other systems, and partner solutions.”

In typical Veeva form, the company is seeking early adopters to co-develop the agents with general release expected in 2027. It is worth noting that AI features are planned for availability free of charge until Veeva AI is officially released (see early adopter availability below).

  • Developer Experience

Through these advancements, Veeva expects to improve customer success, product excellence, and its role as a trusted partner though Industry Standard Applications, including:

  • Clinical Operations
  • Clinical Data Management
  • Regulatory
  • Safety
  • Quality

Momentum Builds Across Quality Cloud

Veeva Quality Cloud has come a long way since it was launched at the 2016 Summit with 25 attendees in a breakout room (See: Unifying Applications to Drive Effectiveness, Efficiency and Compliant Collaboration). Today, Veeva’s Quality Cloud continues to build momentum to the current positioning of Quality Cloud as a core business in 2025 with over 875 participants at this year’s Summit.

Today, the solution spans nine applications covering:

  • QMS
  • Batch Release
  • Product Surveillance
  • Validation Management
  • QualityDocs
  • Station Manager
  • Training
  • LearnGxP
  • LIMS

Through this offering, Veeva intends to enable its clients to accelerate time to market and increase decision speed while improving productivity and supporting cost effective scale-up.

Future Opportunity Areas: EHS and Asset Management

Veeva Quality is expanding its product roadmap in response to customer requests to address business needs.

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS): Given the overlap between quality assurance (QA) and EHS activities, and the fact that a number of its large pharma customers have converged this functions users into a single executive responsible for quality, safety, and environmental operations, Veeva is planning to provide a solution in the EHS space.

Asset Management for LIMS: Veeva announced its intention to provide Asset Maintenance and Calibration support as part of the LIMS offering roadmap.

Practical, Embedded AI Capabilities in QMS

Veeva continues to integrate AI into the Veeva Vault Platform with a pragmatic approach. The new Veeva AI initiative enables users to build agents and shortcuts.

The roadmap for Veeva Quality Cloud includes AI features for:

  • Narrative summary generation
  • Translation services
  • Document similarity scoring
  • Regulatory change impact assessment

In Brief

Veeva Quality Cloud’s footprint now spans over 600 biopharma, contract manufacturers, generics, and medtech companies. Veeva’s approach to product development remains rooted in practical value and customer input. From simplifying interfaces to designing supplier surveillance based on feedback, the company is focused on incremental innovation.

This years’ event focused on two important themes in the evolution of the Veeva Platform:

  • Veeva AI
  • Industry Standard Applications

Veeva has continued its commitment to life sciences and experienced a nearly ten-fold increase in Summit attendance since our first R&D and Quality Summit in 2016 in Philadelphia, which is evidence that their solutions are resonating with their base.
