Axendia to Chair “Bringing Medical Devices to the U.S. Market” Executive Workshop at Advamed 2009

By Daniel R. Matlis

Designed by industry for industry, AdvaMed 2009 is the premier MedTech Conference for CEOs, business executives, policy-makers, media, financiers, and other MedTech leaders from around the world. In only its second year, AdvaMed 2008 attracted 1,400 industry leaders – including 500+ CEOs, Presidents and C-level executives.

AdvaMed 2009 provides industry executives the opportunity to meet with and hear from leaders in the Obama Administration and Congress, as well as learn important developments in reimbursement, regulatory, legal, intellectual property, and other critical areas.

For the second year in a row, I will have the privilege of chairing the Executive Workshop on “Bringing Medical Devices to the U.S. Market.” The session will provide a practical roadmap for successfully bringing medical devices to the U.S. market.

Entering the U.S. market requires a thorough understanding of the frameworks in place for regulation, reimbursement, workforce patterns and establishing a business presence, identifying distribution networks and timeframes for getting the job done. Familiarity with these processes is a prerequisite to the ultimate success a company’s efforts to enter the US Market.

A panel of distinguished speakers will conduct the workshop. They include, in alphabetical order:

  • Carole Carey, Director, International Relations and External Affairs Staff, FDA
  • Stephen Chan, Executive Director, Boston Healthcare Associates
  • Michael DiBello, Director of Regulatory Affairs, Henry Schein, Inc.
  • Judith Meritz, Partner, Baker Donelson
  • Jeanne O’Connor, Vice President, Business Development, Select Greater Philadelphia
  • Jordan Warshafsky, Partner, Ashton Tweed, Ltd.

In addition to in depth presentations by each panelist, the session will provide ample opportunity for Audience interaction though a Panel Discussion and Q&A session.

This Executive Workshop will be held on Monday, October 12, 2009 from 2:00-6:00 PM at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.  Access to the Workshop is Free.
